Premier League clubs may already be privately regretting their vote to close the transfer window prematurely compared to rival leagues.
In a World Cup year it is already a disaster, though the coming weeks will prove how strong clubs are in resisting European clubs from making bids for their players.
Just like every year though, there will be panic in the closing hours, with many clubs yet to complete their plans ahead of the summer.
Man United, Tottenham and Chelsea appear intent on investing significantly, while many of the clubs set to fight for relegation will be desperate to grab a loan from one of the big clubs to help ease their fight to beat the drop.
