Diego Godin rejects Manchester United move as Jose Mourinho’s desperate search for a centre-back continues

Diego Godin has reportedly rejected a move to Manchester United.

The Atletico Madrid defender is the latest on a long list of centre backs to have interested the Old Trafford clubs this summer.

But according to Sky Italy, the Uruguayan has no interest in joining Jose Mourinho’s side.

Godin has a release clause of €20million (£18m) but is set to be offered improved terms in Madrid.

He has developed into one of the world’s best defenders since joining from Villarreal in 2010 and won La Liga with Atletico in the 2013/14 season.

United have been desperate to sign a centre back this summer with Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina and Jerome Boateng all linked.

But Tottenham are refusing to sell the Belgian on the cheap while Leicester are determined to keep hold of Maguire.

Mina will join Everton instead while Bayern are reluctant to part with Boateng.
