Zeljko Buvac is set to join Fenerbahce as the Turkish club’s new manager, according to reports in Turkey.
Sporx claim that Buvac, who walked out on the Reds at the end of April, has reached an agreement with the Istanbul club.
Fenerbahce’s new sporting director, Damien Comolli, once of Anfield, has reportedly agreed terms with Buvac, who Liverpool insisted left them ahead of the season’s final month for “personal reasons”.
The 50-year-old, known as “The Brain”, has worked alongside Jurgen Klopp for the best part of 17 years.
However, it’s claimed Fener are hoping to announce him on Wednesday.
Klopp to reassess ‘keeper options after conceding Alisson defeat
Despite reports from the player’s home country claiming a Reds bid of £60m has been lodged, the Anfield recruitment team have made no such offer as they accept any deal is highly unlikely.
The keeper’s Italian club Roma are still smarting from criticism over last summer’s sale of Mo Salah to Liverpool for less than £40m, and have slapped a prohibitive price tag on Alisson as they maintain they don’t want to sell.
That fee is thought to be in excess of £70m, and with Roma adamant they won’t budge on that valuation, Jurgen Klopp has told his board he’s not interested any where near that figure.
Liverpool fans think Lemar’s La Liga move only means one thing
The World Cup might be around the corner but we all know that modern football is only really about how much money one superclub can shovel into another in return for one of their talents.
They’re the lifeblood of the game, really, says Mark Jones.
Now, as Thomas Lemar looks set to move to Atletico, maybe Liverpool fans have worked it all out.
