Phil Neville’s Twitter activity sparks suggestions he’s soon to be appointed England Women’s boss

No January transfer window is complete without a “cryptic social media hint” or 10.

But this seems to be one with a difference.

Whereas a player opting to follow the club of his dreams and his prospective new teammates seems to be quite commonplace, it is something else when a manager does the same thing.

But eagle-eyed fans have spotted exactly what former Manchester United and Everton defender Phil Neville has been up to on social media recently, and feels as though it offers a strong suggestion at where his next role will be.

Neville has been strongly linked with the England Women’s team role as the Lionesses seek to rebuild following the dramatic exit of the disgraced Mark Sampson , and it looks as though he’s researching his new players.

The 40-year-old has undertaken coaching roles at Manchester United and Valencia, leaving the latter in 2016, but he’s now suddenly started following a whole host of the Lionesses’ stars on Twitter.

Neville – or @fizzer18 as he is on Twitter – has followed the likes of Laura Bassett, Fran Kirby, Casey Stoney and more, as well as the official accounts of the Lionesses, the US national team and Manchester City Women.

Could that announcement be coming soon?

That seems to be the path this story is following.
